Cuneiform Records released Escape Of The Fire Ants by renegade Swiss brass band LE REX in April 2019. The band's fourth album, it's our second release by the young and highly mobile group who are winning jazz & beyond audiences across Europe & worldwide. Featuring a line up of trombone (Andreas Tschopp), tuba (Marc Unternahrer), two saxes (Benedikt Reising and Marc Stucki) and drums (Rico Baumann), the edgy "jazz" ensemble reinvents brass groove/jazz/brass band music with an indie-rock aesthetic.
Emerging from the incredibly diverse crucible of music that is Chicago, Cheer-Accidentembodies and re-affirms the “promises made” by previous generations of progressive rock, post-punk, and post rock bands—the creation of a thoroughly new rock-based music.
Performing regularly at The Iridium and The Falcon, the Big Apple's beloved Ed Palermo Big Band, led by jazz composer/ arranger/ saxophonist Ed Palermo, hones its chops before the entire band travels overseas to perform at Germany's legendary Zappanale, the world's premiere festival devoted to the musical legacy of Frank Zappa.
London's Empirical are expanding jazz's reach with their music (embracing the future while respecting the past) and via innovative means ("pop-up jazz lounges" in Tube stations) to introduce jazz to the mainstream public. After completing their first ever North American Tour in June, Empirical will tour the UK in the Fall of 2019.
The exuberant Swiss jazz/ pop/ beyond quartet - named after the American triple-Gold Medal winner at the 1904 Summer Olympics - continue to celebrate their Cuneiform release, Tilt, by touring the Northern European jazz festival and club circuit.
