CUNEIFORM RECORDS RELEASES ESCAPE OF THE FIRE ANTS BY THE
RENEGADE JAZZ BRASS BAND
LE REX
ON APRIL 5, 2019!

April showers bring...fire ants!!!  Exciting news: Escape of the Fire Ants, a brilliant new album by Le Rex, is OUT this month on Cuneiform Records! The band's fourth album, it's our second release by the young Swiss brass band who are winning jazz & beyond audiences across Europe & worldwide. Featuring a line up of trombone, tuba, two saxes and drums, the edgy 'jazz' ensemble reinvents brass groove/ jazz/ brass band music with an indie-rock aesthetic. Recorded in a studio known for rock recordings, Escape of the Fire Ants is the band’s most confident and cohesive release, marked by consistently compelling compositions and performances.

Says Le Rex: “We have this common sense of humor that translates to the music. Playing on the street helped us develop that. We realized on the street you have to be entertaining, which led to players moving around a lot on stage. It’s not only a visual thing. It’s a sonic thing too. If the horns move away from the drums, it changes the arrangement.”

MAY 2019 NEW RELEASES ON CUNEIFORM RECORDS

May also promises to be a very special month for Cuneiform Records – and for GUITARS!! We release two killer guitar albums:

One, called Anacostia Delta Music, is by The Spellcasters (Joel Harrison, Anthony Pirog, and Dave Chappell on guitars John Previti on acoustic & electric bass; and Barry Hart on drums), who celebrate the hybrid rockabilly/jazz/country music of the Anacostia Delta (DC/ northern VA/ southern MD) and the legacy of Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan via Fender Telecasters.

The other release is a monster ‘out’ electric jazz/rock session by Five Times Surprise (Henry Kaiser & Anthony Pirog–six-string guitar; Tracy Silverman–six-string electric violin; Jeff Sipe-drums; Andy West–six-string bass).
