As you know, Cuneiform Records ceased releasing new material and laid off its staff on December 31, 2017. The Thumbscrew trio subsequently encouraged label owner Steven Feigenbaum to resume operation; see Steve's Message to Friends of Cuneiform Records: Two Toes Back in the Water.
Steve agreed to release two new recordings by Thumbscrew: Ours, an album of original Thumbscrew compositions, and Theirs, featuring Thumbscrew performing works by others. Released and distributed worldwide by Cuneiform on June 8, 2018, Ours and Theirs are available in CD and digital (standard & HD) formats. They are the first releases of newly recorded material to come out on Cuneiform in physical and digital formats since the label's re-emergence.

Steve Tibbetts
Digital reissue of the guitarist's long-unavailable first LP. Recorded at home in 1977 using multiple guitars, synths, and tape effects, the music is an unholy mix of finger-style guitar Americana with the psychedelic spirit of Jimi Hendrix. Carefully remastered from the original master tape, the album sounds better, Steve says, than he even hoped was possible. Available only from Bandcamp. Released May 4, 2018. (No promotional copies).

Thumbscrew is the all-star collaborative trio of:
Michael Formanek - bass
Tomas Fujiwara - drums
Mary Halvorson - guitar
A favorite performing and recording ensemble for Halvorson, for Formanek and for Fujiwara, the Thumbscrew trio often forms the core of each of these stellar musicians' larger ensembles.
Guitarist Mary Halvorson has been in the global spotlight since 2017, when she was named a DownBeat triple-hitter: DownBeat's 2017 Guitarist of the Year, Rising Star Jazz Artist, & Rising Star Composer.
This Spring/Summer 2018, she's featured on the covers of
The Wire - April 2018 (above) and DownBeat - June 2018 (below).
Thumbscrew's extensive 2018 touring schedule celebrates the release of two new albums – Ours and Theirs – on Cuneiform, which re-opened its doors to resume releasing recordings of new music in both physical & digital (HD & standard) formats specifically on Thumbscrew's request and encouragement.
SUMMER 2018 THUMBSCREW CONCERTS
Summer 2018 will be Thumbscrew's busiest performance season ever. The all-star trio will play numerous festivals across North America and serve a week-long residency at NYC's The Village Vanguard!
July 17-22 - Residency at The Village Vanguard - 178 Seventh Avenue South - New York, NY
