HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016!!!

All of us at Cuneiform Records wish all of you -- our dear artists, our music colleagues in press and radio, and our wonderful fans around the world -- a very Happy New Year!!

May 2016 be a good year for you, filled with love, happiness, good health, and economic security. May it be a year of special inspiration, in which you're surrounded by people who warm your heart and creative work that fires your soul.

Above all, may 2016 bring peace: peace to our hearts, to our fellow man, and to our troubled & highly politicized planet.

Looking back, 2015 has been an unusual year, proof positive of the saying that "what does not kill us, makes us stronger." Although 2015 was an economically difficult year for most of us in the creative music biz, it was also a positive year: the year in which the creative music community drew closer together and began to forge solutions for a sustainable future. Thank YOU for your support this past year.

We're honored to have released 16 albums in 2015 of adventurous, genre-challenging music by extraordinary musicians from Europe, the UK, Scandinavia, Africa, and North and South America. Many of our 2015 albums have begun to appear in the Best Albums of 2015 lists for jazz, rock, electronic, & beyond, published internationally in the press and aired on radio. We congratulate our artists on the recognition that their work is receiving. And we thank all of YOU who have included our albums in your Year's Best lists.

Below are some of the Best of 2015 lists that we've received / seen thus far.

Besides listening to Cuneiform's 2015 releases, we encourage you to attend some of the numerous live concerts that Cuneiform artists will be presenting in the coming months. Jazz fans may want to head to Seattle on Jan. 14 and 15 for two very special concerts presented by Bill Frisell and Michael Gibbs with the UW Big Band & Jazz Faculty, in celebration of Gibbs and Frisell's 2015 release on Cuneiform: Michael Gibbs & the NDR BigBand with Bill Frisell Plays a Bill Frisell Set List. Also in January, Denver's Thinking Plague will tour Texas, while Norway's Pixel plays in London. For more info about these and other shows, see Cuneiform Tours. Based on these and upcoming concerts, 2016 is looking to be a VERY exciting year! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Best regards

THE GUARDIAN - OBSERVER's "Hidden gems of 2015: great records you may have missed":
Michael Gibbs: In My View (Cuneiform)

"Considered one of the greatest masters of the jazz orchestra alive today, Michael Gibbs has written settings for an enormous range of jazz stars, but albums under his own name appear quite rarely. He has a close relationship with Hamburg’s NDR Bigband, and together they created these nine gorgeous pieces. The rhythms are constantly surprising, the soloists inspired, and the sheer depth and variety of sound apparently endless. Among the original compositions are some fascinating reimaginings of pieces by Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk and others." --Dave Gelly
